Just a week after DroneResponders announced the launch of a Technical Experts Program (TEP) to assist public safety and emergency services professionals and agencies, the non-profit public safety alliance has made public a new partnership with the Commercial Drone Alliance aiming to assist first responders UAS programs.

The partnership is set to increase dialogue and establish relations between the UAS industry and first responders who are embracing unmanned systems to help lifesaving missions and protect property. The two companies will be focused on initiatives designed to bring lifesaving UAS solutions and related technologies to public safety end-users while increasing interest in public safety innovation throughout the industry.

“We are seeing incredible interest in using drones for public safety at the local, state, and federal levels,” said Lisa Ellman, executive director for the Commercial Drone Alliance. “Our partnership with DroneResponders – the world’s fastest-growing non-profit program supporting public safety UAS – will serve to strengthen the ecosystem surrounding how first responders work with industry to deploy drones in the national airspace system.”

DroneResponders recently released a mid-year report showing that the used of UAVs in the public safety sphere is on the rise.

According to the report, 3 out of 4 public safety agencies claim they are already either operating drones or working on implementing a UAS program and more than 80 percent of public safety UAS operators either have obtained, or are pursuing, their FAA Part 107 certification.

The report data included survey responses from 288 public safety professionals combined with expert analysis from DroneResponders. It can be downloaded from the company's website.

Both companies will be at the DroneResponders Public Safety Summit at the 2019 Commercial UAV Expo Americas from October 29-30 at the Westgate Resort & Casino.

“We’ll be working directly with the Commercial Drone Alliance in advance of the DroneResponders U.S. Public Safety UAS Summit at Commercial UAV Expo Americas to lay the groundwork for us to build bridges between the drone industry and public safety,” said Charles Werner, director of DroneResponders . “I expect this will be a hallmark event for the UAS industry.

“The Commercial Drone Alliance is home to an amazing roster of companies symbolizing America’s technological might. We welcome the opportunity to work with their members to help deliver cutting-edge UAS-related solutions that benefit public safety agencies across the U.S. and around the world.”
