As the United States prepares for the impact of Hurricane Irma, many people will be able to see what kind of an impact drone technology can have in emergency situations. One company is making an offer to help the very people who will be in these situations, as HAZON Solutions announced they’ll be providing their drone fleet management software for free to anyone involved in hurricane disaster response or recovery efforts in the US.

“It is very important to HAZON that we do everything possible to help our fellow drone operators make as efficient and effective as possible” said HAZON President Sean Cushing.  “Having a proven management tool like HAZON DMS will allow the safe and rapid allocation of drone teams. We have used it for Harvey and are busy using it to be effective for Irma preparations.”

HAZON's Drone Management System (DMS) provides drone operators with an online based tool to track flights, manage maintenance and monitor weather and airspace. The solution will enable rapid information sharing that will allow people to immediately assess what’s happening and plan accordingly.

“It’s a tool that will allow people to get a better understanding of where they want to be, which is obviously going to be important for anyone dealing with the impact of Irma,” HAZON Vice President Ed Hine told Commercial UAV News. “What’s going to be critical is the ability to quickly get your arms around what’s happening and what needs to happen.”

Having that understanding comes from users inputting flight logs, aircraft maintenance needs and daily activities into HAZON DMS™. Supervisors can view all entered information from a desktop computer or mobile device, without the worry of updating multiple spreadsheets, so that everyone gets a sense of what the situation actually looks like.

"With what's happened in Texas, and as Irma looks to pack a punch on the east coast, we are looking to do more than just send our teams in to the disaster areas to help out," Hine continued.  "We’re offering DMS to drone operators involved in the response or recovery for the next 3 months.  Our hope is that DMS will help drone operators better coordinate and execute their flights, ideally the result will be better support for those who need it the most."

The ability to literally do some good for people who will need all the support they can get is clearly the driver behind this offer, and it’s a great showcase of what kind of a difference the technology can make in these kinds of situations.

Drone operators interested in taking advantage of this offer are encouraged to contact the HAZON team at [email protected] or [email protected].
