Today, End State Solutions LLC (ESS) and Avtrain Limited announced a new strategic collaboration, which they say is aimed at facilitating “seamless certification and approval processes” for emerging aerospace technology companies. With ESS specializing in certification consultancy in the United States and Avtrain serving as a prominent regulatory expert in Europe, the collaboration marks a significant development in bridging regulatory landscapes across the Atlantic. Given the growing number of global companies working in both regions, this collaboration will enable clients to navigate a complex regulatory environment across the FAA and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), allowing organizations to accelerate their path to revenue in each region.

The companies note in their release of the news that the announcement comes after a number of “productive discussions,” including those at the Commercial UAV Expo. Held September 2-4 in Las Vegas, Nevada, one of the ethos of Commercial UAV Expo is to foster this kind of industry networking and conversation, and this kind of collaboration encapsulates the possibilities driven by in-person networking and events.

The collaboration itself formalizes what the companies refer to as a “mutual commitment” to supporting their clients in global expansion aspirations without having to face conflicting regulatory guidance. By combining their respective expertise in regional regulatory matters, they say, ESS and Avtrain will provide a unified approach for companies looking to receive certifications, authorizations, and waivers in both the U.S. and European markets.

The crux of the strategic alliance, as noted above, is focused on “emerging” aerospace companies, particularly those in the drone, Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), eVTOL, and High-Altitude Platform Systems (HAPS) sectors. That said, both companies note their expertise in traditional aviation as well, which will enable service certification projects across a wide range of clients.

"Our mission at End State Solutions is to certify autonomy in aerospace by navigating complex regulations to get emerging technology companies to revenue operations, and we pride ourselves on bridging the cultural gap between innovators and regulators in the U.S.," said Charlton M. Evans, Founder and CEO of End State Solutions, in a statement. "This collaboration with Avtrain is a natural extension of our commitment to our clients. It ensures that companies looking to operate globally will benefit from a cohesive strategy, avoiding the pitfalls of disparate regulatory interpretations and accelerating their market entry in both the U.S. and Europe. We are truly becoming a bridge to revenue operations for emerging aerospace on a transatlantic scale."

Julie Garland, CEO of Avtrain, added, "Avtrain's strength lies in our broad, deep understanding of the European regulatory environment, particularly the application of SORA 2.5 globally, coupled with our interpersonal relationships with EASA and National Aviation Authorities across Europe. Our mission has been to actively promote industry growth and drive regulatory proportionality and simplification through extensive participation at JARUS, JEDA, and EASA Stakeholder Advisory Body Drone Community, which gives us a unique insight into the evolving regulatory environment. This collaboration with End State Solutions means that operators can move from one jurisdiction to another, expanding their operations across the pond with a single, harmonized approach. It provides a significant advantage and strength as the industry continues to evolve and move globally."
