On Wednesday, commercial drone operations platform AirData UAV announced a new integration with Pilot Institute, a drone training school and Commercial UAV Expo event partner. This integration automatically syncs pilot training records and skills with AirData, allowing pilots to keep their qualifications alongside their flight records and fleet administrators to get a clearer view of team training and skills.
The partnership brings together AirData, which serves over 470,000 pilots worldwide and has logged over 68 million drone flights, and Pilot Institute, the largest drone school in the U.S., training over 150,000 Part 107 students. The integration is available across all AirData subscription levels, including the free tier.
Particularly for organizations that employ a large number of pilots, maintaining an up-to-date accounting of training records for team members can be a time-consuming task. Traditionally, pilots download certificates after completing courses and submit them to administrators, who collect the documentation and monitor training requirements.
Now, certificates completed through Pilot Institute, including those earned previously, appear in AirData as badges, along with the skills tied to each certification. Administrators can use that skills data when deciding which pilots to assign to specific missions. Pilots and administrators also receive reminders when a certificate is approaching expiration to help keep teams current.
"We've automated flight record syncing for years, and we see the same need with pilot certifications," said Eran Steiner, CEO of AirData UAV. "We're also automatically extracting the skills pilots have earned, giving fleet managers the information they need to assign the right pilots to the right missions."
The integration also lets administrators see which courses pilots have completed and which are still in progress. Because certificates are imported directly from Pilot Institute, pilots have a verified record of their training that they can share with employers and clients. Training documentation and skills are stored alongside flight history, aircraft information and maintenance records.
"Our students spend a lot of time earning their certifications and developing their skills. We want that information to be easy for them to access and useful to the organizations they work with," said Greg Reverdiau, Co-Founder and Head of Training at Pilot Institute. "This integration gives our students a direct way to maintain their training records alongside their flight experience, without the extra administrative work."
