The best way to improve and refine your product or service – no matter the industry – is to listen to your customers. Detailed, honest feedback from the people you serve can provide invaluable insights into what you are doing well and what you could be doing better.
The chance to interact with current and prospective customers is the main reason 3Dsurvey has come back to Commercial UAV Expo for three consecutive years. Amy Nicol, Sales & Marketing Manager at 3Dsurvey, and her colleague Matija Zupan, QA Manager, told Commercial UAV News that the event provides them with a unique opportunity to talk at length with drone industry professionals, and those conversations have helped them make their widely respected photogrammetry software and applications even better.
“We get the most valuable feedback at these kinds of events,” Zupan said. “Commercial UAV Expo in particular has been really good for us because, while we get lots of feedback from European customers, it’s harder to get feedback from the U.S.”
That feedback, Zupan reported, has helped 3Dsurvey make enhancements to their major software offerings. “Every year, we release two major versions that improve upon the previous one, and we try to chose what goes into the software by user feedback and market demand,” he said. Those software upgrades can help UAV professionals do a better job of processing, analyzing, and visualizing geospatial data, creating detailed 3D models, and more.
For Nicol, participation in Commercial UAV Expo not only helps with software enhancements, it also helps 3Dsurvey reach new markets. “Land surveyors are our main customers, but we also work with other geo specialists and some people from construction,” she explained. At the 3Dsurvey booth at Commercial UAV Expo, however, Nicol and her colleagues have been able to meet with drone-related professionals representing new industries.
“We’ve had some people from real estate come by who are interested in using drones to do 3D models,” she said. “We’ve also had people from utility companies.”
As Nicol remarked, “3Dsurvey software was made for land surveyors, but we are extending the capabilities to touch multiple industries.”
And talking directly to drone professionals at Commercial UAV Expo helps them do it.
