Professionals across a variety of industries have proven that drone usage can increase efficiencies, help meet sustainability goals, and allow new projects to be completed that wouldn’t have been possible by traditional methods. Agriculture is increasingly becoming one of the most important industries in which drones are becoming an integral part, with a variety of applications enabled by drones becoming more and more commonplace throughout one of the most important industries in the world. Whether it’s mapping fields, monitoring crops or livestock, or even spraying pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizer, drones are making life easier for professionals in this space who are becoming early adopters.
That said, there is still plenty of room to grow in this industry, both for farmers who are looking to start their own program, or those looking to outsource this work to third parties. That, in turn, creates ample opportunities for drone service providers who are looking to expand their offerings to do so by working with those in the agricultural space. To help both agricultural professionals who might be curious about how drones can help their operations, as well as drone service providers who might want to enter this space, Commercial UAV News will be hosting an agriculture-focused webinar next week.
Entitled Unlocking the Value of Drones in Agriculture, this 60-minute panel webinar at 1:00 PM Eastern Time on November 6 will cover everything you need to know about the value that drones are creating in the industry today, what types of technology drone service providers need to know about to enter this space, and what the future of the sector looks like. Moderated by CUAV News’ Matt Collins, the panel will include insights from Brandon Beal, co-founder and CEO of Elevation Aerial Application, and Jerimiah Contreras, pilot experience manager with FlyGuys. Registration for the webinar is free by following the link below, and all registrants will have access to an on-demand recording of the discussion, so be sure to register even if you can’t make it live.
The webinar figures to cover a handful of different key areas throughout the discussion, featuring insights from a pair of professionals who have worked directly in this field. They’ll speak to, of course, where the industry is today in terms of drone adoption. Drawing on experience both within this industry and also from providing services to other industries, they’ll compare the state of drone usage in agriculture and where it is on the adoption timeline. They’ll also speak from their experiences in working directly with farmers and others in the agricultural industry, talking about some of the most common questions and concerns they hear and how they answer them when working with a new client.
Additionally, they’ll talk through some of the specific technologies that they utilize in this kind of work. That includes the types of drones they’re using for different projects, what sensors they use for any mapping or other data collection work, and what types of sprayers are most commonly used. As with any drone services, though, it’s not just the hardware that is used, so the panelists will also speak to the software that they typically utilize on these types of projects, a crucial piece of information for drone service providers looking to get into this space.
Finally, the panel will talk about what the future of this industry could look like as regulations and technology continue to evolve. With the recent Part 108 NPRM being released and the public comment period coming to a close in early October, the panel will discuss how BVLOS operations can potentially grow this space, and what kinds of considerations for these might be unique to agriculture. Additionally, they’ll talk through some of the trends they are watching most closely as this industry continues to mature.
These are only a few of the topics that will be touched upon through the 60-minute discussion. If you are interested in learning more about how drones can help your agricultural operations, or how you can expand your drone services into this sector, you won’t want to miss this webinar.
