Tyto Robotics has announced this week a new five-year agreement with WindShape, creating a partnership between a leader in UAV test equipment and a manufacturer of advanced slow generators for aerodynamic testing. In their release of the news, the companies say that this partnership will “make both companies’ test solutions more accessible to UAV developers worldwide.” Specifically, they call out four initiatives through which they will increase that accessibility.

The first is a renewed focus on global distribution, as Tyto Robotics says it will now distribute products from WindShape throughout the world. That includes wind walls, wind tunnels, its WindProbe measurement system, as well as its software. While Tyto Robotics is based in Canada, they have a global distributor network across “more than a dozen” countries, expanding the reach of the Switzerland-based WindShape.

The companies’ release of this news also highlights the ability to enhance propeller testing through the integration of WindShaper with Tyto’s Flight Stand technology, something they say is a “central objective” of the agreement. Flight Stand’s product line features thrust stands, dynamic propeller balancing software, and distributed electric propulsion testing capabilities. Now, the integration will bring equipment from Windshaper and Flight Stand together into a single platform, which can be downloaded on Tyto Robotics’ website.

“We’re excited to announce that, starting today, users can control their WindShaper directly through Tyto’s Flight Stand software,” said Tyto Robotics CTO, Dominic Robillard, in a statement.

In order to help facilitate the value of this partnership, Tyto Robotics is also planning to expand its educational and training resources. They say they will support developers with “in-depth” tutorials and educational content on WindShapers as well as aerodynamic testing more broadly. There are already articles and videos available on their website and social channels, they say, and they plan to highlight new Windshaper applications beyond UAVs, including testing for automotive, biological, and infrastructure.

Finally, Tyto Robotics says this integration of WindShapers into its ecosystem will advance its mission to provide UAV developers with a “complete, high-quality suite of testing tools.” Now, they say, developers can source everything they need within a single environment.

“By combining our technologies, we are giving UAV developers worldwide a unified ecosystem of test solutions that accelerate innovation and ensure reliable validation,” said Charles Blouin, President of Tyto Robotics, in a statement.
