Califorina-based Mobix Labs, Inc. has announced the signing of a contract “to develop drone-based, AI-powered inspection technology for the U.S. rail industry.” A provider of advanced connectivity and sensing solutions, Mobix will use its Mobix Labs Wireless division, RaGE Systems, to seek ways to “improve rail safety and modernize critical infrastructure.”

According to a statement from Mobix, the new program will deploy AI-equipped UAVs “to scan bridges quickly and safely, spotting hidden weaknesses and providing results in real time.” The company believes the program will be faster, cheaper, safer, and more effective than current inspection systems.

Commenting on the contract, Russell Cyr, General Manager and Vice President of Mobix Labs Wireless, said, “This program shows the potential of combining drones with AI to tackle one of America’s toughest infrastructure challenges. We believe this technology can help revolutionize how railroads inspect bridges and create opportunities for Mobix Labs to expand into many other industries that demand smarter, safer solutions.”
