With all the tools available to drone operators today, creating an effective and efficient drone workflow is easier said than done. Project managers must consider, within every step of workflow, how is this helping the outcome? From staying fully compliant with federal and local regulations, to capturing the right type and amount of data, to ensuring compatibility between hardware, sensors, and software platforms, there is plenty of room for improvement.
While the specifics of drone workflows vary between the projects and industries they serve, the teams building them often encounter the same core challenges along the way. Issues such as getting stake holder buy-in, or are your drone pilots also trained in data management, or is that something you need another person for? Whether you’re using drones to monitor crop fields or to assist in first-response scenarios, these are just a few of the challenges everyone needs to consider.
That’s why Commercial UAV Expo will host a roundtable discussion session to address these challenges. In the Drone Workflow Implementation and Integration roundtable, we invite attendees who have experience in designing workflows, or those who will be tasked with such to gather and share their best practices, offer and receive advice, and discuss what the future of drone workflows can look like.
With new regulations regarding the BVLOS operations being formulated, it will become imperative for the industry to be confident in designing and implementing robust, efficient, and valuable workflows.
Joining the discussion to share their experiences and lessons learned from developing drone workflows in industries ranging from law enforcement to risk management and inspections are: Garret Hultgren, Sergeant at Longmont Police Department; Zachary Finn, Director of Risk Management & Crisis Response at Henriott; and Steffanie Rivers, Drone Pilot and Proprietor of TCB Drones, LLC.
Led by professionals who have successfully created and implemented their own drone workflows, attendees will have the opportunity to sit down with each other to dive into questions such as:
- How do you ensure compliance (FAA and local regulations) is embedded into your workflows?
- How do you measure the ROI of your workflow?
- Where do most drone workflows break down or become inefficient?
- What is your contingency plan if there is a ban on Chinese-manufactured drones?
Each table in the room will be dedicated to a specific discussion topic. Attendees will share their insights for 20 minutes, then will have the opportunity to move to another table to talk about a different topic and meet new faces. After about three rotations, the moderators will gather everyone for a larger group discussion to share high-level takeaways from all the discussions.
If you have a specific topic you would like to see discussed in this session, please submit it to be considered here.
