U.S.-based industrial drone maker DMR Technologies will establish its “first full-scale U.S. manufacturing facility” in Louisiana’s Lafayette Parish. According to a statement from Louisiana Economic Development, the site will serve as the company’s primary domestic production hub, manufacturing the Field Ranger X50 drone for the U.S. market.
The Lafayette site, the statement said, will integrate “advanced flight control printing, rotor manufacturing, assembly, quality control and logistics staging all under one roof.” For the initial phase of the effort, “the facility is expected to assemble 500 to 1,000 drones within its first year of production.”
Currently, DMR is renovating a 10,000-square-foot facility located in Lafayette. Production is “slated to begin by the end of the year," and “the project is expected to result in more than 1,200 new job opportunities.”
“To win the project in Lafayette,” according to Louisiana Economic Development’s statement, “the state of Louisiana offered DMR a competitive incentives package that includes the comprehensive workforce development solutions of LED FastStart and a $1 million performance-based grant for leasehold improvements and equipment costs contingent upon meeting investment and employment targets.” As part of the deal, DMR is “expected to participate in the state’s High Impact Jobs and Industrial Tax Exemption programs.”
