AgEagle Aerial Systems announced their new RedEdge-P Green Camera for advanced precision agriculture in a press release. This unique camera is designed to accelerate data collection on large farms, assisting in every step from planting to harvesting.

The RedEdge-P Green Camera has the capability to collect finite data on plants including chlorophyll, carotenoids, and flavonoid content. This data allows users to track the progress of their crops to inform crop yields, taste, and viability after harvesting. The camera is NDAA compliant and can easily integrate onto many drone platforms.

As stated in the press release, this camera benefits more than just the farmer:

  • Farming: Achieve higher yields through quicker interventions both early on and late in the crop cycle. Operators can reduce fertilizer and irrigation inputs and engage in smart harvesting techniques using optimized indices and targeted indices like the Plant Senescence Reflectance Index (PSRI).
  • Researchers: Access a robust toolset of narrow spectral bands for advanced studies and machine learning applications, driving innovation in crop health and environmental monitoring.
  • Environmental management: Gain deeper insights into biome health and invasive species across all seasons, in diverse biomes and at varying latitudes

This camera is offered on its own or in tandem with other models such as the RedEdge-P and the RedEdge-P Blue which detect different ranges of visible light and color than the RedEdge-Green.

In a statement, Bill Irby, CEO of AgEagle Aerial Systems said “the sensor provides high-resolution multispectral imaging with modular configurations, producing a large volume of detailed, high-resolution multispectral data. We are empowering agronomists and researchers to make data-driven decisions that enhance yields, reduce costs, and help conserve natural resources. This camera will set the new standard in agricultural imaging.”
